Cat welfare

Your cat’s welfare comes first.

Everything about our London service, from the people to the spas, is designed to keep grooming calm and safe for cats.

Why at home?

Less stress, from start to finish

Cats are territorial animals, and for many of them the car journey and a busy salon are the most stressful parts of being groomed.

With 4 Paws your cat stays on its own street. There’s no journey across London, no waiting room, no cages and no other animals. They’re groomed one-to-one, then handed straight back to you.

  • A few steps from your front door to the spa, in a secure carrier
  • Never left waiting in a cage between stages of the groom
  • No dogs, other cats or strangers’ pets around

Our welfare promise

What we’ll do on every groom

Cat groomers, trained by us

Every London groomer has a background in feline care and is trained by 4 Paws in calm, cat-friendly grooming.

Cats only. Never dogs.

No barking, no dog smells and no other animals. Our London spas are fitted out for cats and used only for cats.

Close to home territory

Cats are territorial. Your cat stays on its own street, so there’s no car journey, no waiting room and no cages.

We don’t sedate cats

We rely on calm, patient handling, and we stop if your cat becomes too stressed. We’ll work with your vet should sedation be needed.

Escape-proof routine

Doors are closed before a carrier is opened, every time. Your cat goes from your door to the spa and back in a secure carrier.

Clean and hygienic

Our spas are kept clean and hygienic, with easy-clean surfaces in a grooming room fitted out just for cats.

A calm, comfortable spa

The grooming room is temperature-controlled and quiet. With no engine running, there’s no rumble or exhaust smell.

Your consent first

We agree the groom with you at the door, and ask before clipping, removing matts or changing anything you’ve asked for.

Health notes and photos

We check for lumps, bumps, skin problems and sore spots as we groom, and tell you if a vet visit might be wise.

Who grooms your cat

Cat groomers, trained by us

Every groomer in our London spas has a background in feline care, and every one is trained by 4 Paws.

Before grooming on their own, every groomer completes our feline-grooming and mobile-spa training, built on more than a decade of grooming pets at home. It’s cat-care knowledge and grooming skill in one person.

  • Gentle, low-stress handling techniques
  • Clear rules on when to stop a groom
  • First aid ready, and a clear plan if a vet is needed
Who it helps most

Cats who need a little help

Cats are good at grooming themselves, but some can’t manage it alone.

Long-haired breedsPersians, Maine Coons, RagdollsBritish Longhairs and other long coats matt easily, and matts pull painfully on the skin.
Older catsSenior & less mobileStiff joints and extra weight make it hard for cats to reach their backs and bottoms.
Anxious catsStay close to homeCats who hate the carrier or the car get a short trip from the door instead of a journey.
Busy London ownersNo car neededMore than half of London households live in flats. We come to you, so you don’t need a car or a free afternoon.

Our stop rule

If a cat becomes too stressed, we stop, and we won’t force a groom that isn’t in your cat’s best interests. We don’t sedate cats, but we’ll work with your vet should sedation be needed.
